Hi , I currently have a self-directed IRA with ENTRUST , now "REALTRUST" in Washington State. I don't feel comfortable with this relationship, and feel the fees they are charging are high. This money is invested in a Private Real Estate offering- a share of some apartment buildings here in Seattle.

I also have a Traditional IRA rollover at Schwab...this is largely invested in Vanguard Mutual funds, but my distrust of Wall Street, my lack of faith in stocks, and the eroding dollar, has me desiring a different pat

I have read through some of the article on your site, and would like to move to a self-directed IRA where I am the "trustee", with checkbook privileges, loan making ability , etc

I am self employed- owning my LLC here in Washington State

How can you advise me on how to proceed.

Sure. With an IRA LLC or Solo 401(k) Trust open a Schwab account, and request approval for margin. You'll generally need at least $5,000. Most securities brokers have a policy to disallow margin for their IRA & 401(k) accounts. However, under my recommendation you are opening an account for an LLC or Trust (which both flow back to the IRA or 401k) so their company policy allows for margin for an LLC or Trust as long as the LLC/Trust documents give the Manager/Trustee authority to do so.

If you don't know what a Self Directed IRA LLC or Self Directed Solo 401(k) Trust is, then request basic info here.
